Low Impact | High Performance | Sustainability
Our aluminium New Wave slide and fold doors are manufactured using thermally broken aluminium profiles. Aluminium is a highly sustainable product, which can be melted down and recycled. This process uses approximately 5% of the energy required to form virgin aluminium from aluminium ores of bauxite. This is why we are committed to recycling
uPVC profiles are not widely recycled, the process is much more complicated and expensive, also with the recycled plastics not being of the same quality as virgin profiles. However, many systems companies have made a huge commitment to improving this process. Our uPVC slide & swing doors are manufacture from VEKA profiles, who are one such company. Their recycling plant located in Kent was established in 2007 and ensures that the maximum amount of VEKA profiles get re-used rather than going to landfill.
VEKA is an industry leader in recycling old uPVC profiles. While some companies recycle to produce lower grade products, like sewer or drainage pipes, they use processed material from end-of-life uPVC profiles and turn them back into superior virgin quality uPVC windows, doors and conservatories.
When you consider that the average lifespan of a uPVC window is some 30 or 40 years, and can be recycled up to ten times, we’re helping to create windows and doors with a lifespan of 350 years- now that’s what you call a sustainable product!
New Wave Doors have made a partnership commitment with VEKA recycling. From November 2017 all unused factory profile offcuts and all old frames brought back by our customers and installers, are all sent to recycling rather than being sent to landfill.
