When Jules and her family who run the Lookout beach café in Jersey were considering remodelling their beloved establishment they had one vision, to be able to offer their customers the opportunity to connect with the outside elements whatever the wonderful mother nature decided to bless them with.
Being right on the edge of Jersey’s number one beach the café is graced with breathtaking panoramic views. Also has to battle every element throughout the year.
Jules wanted the ability to open the restaurant’s multi-panel doors to allow the fresh air in, but if the weather changed quickly they could manipulate the amount of panels of the door they would open.
They quickly ruled out having traditional bi-folds as they did not offer the flexibility Jules wanted.
Once the family had stumbled across the New Wave Door they couldn’t quite believe how perfect they would be. The restaurant had a number of openings to fill and ended up choosing five separate sets. This would allow them to not only open the whole side of the restaurant but divide the internal space into more manageable sections.
It would also mean the family would not have to sacrifice and table space inside or outside because of how the doors work. With bi-folding doors, you have to keep furniture away from them to allow the operation whereas this simply is not the case with New Waves.
The Next Step
Jules contacted Baz from local firm Reflections who offered to supply and install the doors using their extensive experience.
Having looked into the functionality of the doors Baz agreed that not only did the doors create the wow factor the customer was aiming for, but because of the lack of external hardware with New Wave Doors they would weather much better so close to the extreme climate the location experienced.
Once the uPVC slide and swing doors were installed the family were overwhelmed with how quickly it warmed up the property. Instantly new they could now keep the café open all year round instead of the original eight months because of the harsh winter climate.
Having been installed for just over fourteen months now the slide and stack doors still remain a huge talking point between the customers. The New Wave Doors have transformed the Café into the number one spot in Jersey to simply enjoy fantastic homemade cooking with a backdrop to die for.
